Meet Paul, our senior lecturer and first year lead tutor in Economics.

He also is the level 3 foundation programme lead tutor as he leads the economics module.

He is here to support your journey in Finance and Economics from the very beginning.

Describe yourself in 3 words?

Funny, focused and questioning.

What areas of Finance and Economics are you most passionate about?

My big thing is everything is economics!

I am interested in the challenge of the climate, the environmental impacts of economics. I am a micro tutor, I interested how economics impacts people and the bigger picture.

The foundations students, believe they do not have economics knowledge. My challenge to them at level 3, is to get them to think how does economics impact you. I like to get people to think economically, such as how to get the use of your resources whether you are lawyer, Uber drive or nurse.

I think it is really special that at Manchester Met you can start here on a foundation course and go all the way through your education up until your PHD.

What advice would you give to current students?

Self development – Talk more. Argue. Do not just accept what you are told and question what you are being told.

Academic side- read more and critique more.

Challenge challenging behaviour.

Manchester is so diverse, so explore it.

What do you enjoy most about teaching?

I like the students, I like the big room and I like a big lecture theatre and I like to perform. It is called a lecture theatre for a reason.

Fun fact about yourself

I have recorded with both The Who and Oasis because I have been at the live concerts when they have been recorded.

I have been on stage and performed with a dance extravaganza when I tapped danced.
