About the Speaker – Mark Hughes MBE
Mark Hughes MBE has been the Group Chief Executive of The Growth Company since 2013, leading one of the UK’s most influential organisations focused on inclusive and sustainable economic development.
Before his current role, he served as Chief Executive of the North West Regional Development Agency, and was awarded an MBE in 2013 for services to business in the North West. His earlier career includes senior consultancy roles at Ernst & Young and economic development work at DTZ Pieda Consulting, where he contributed to the creation of the European Investment Monitor, now a major tool for tracking inward investment across Europe.
Mark also holds an Honorary Professorship in Productivity and Innovation at the University of Manchester, reflecting his leadership in supporting business growth, job creation, and regional economic resilience.
