Hi Everyone,

Whether you are new to the department, or a returning student, I wanted to take a moment to welcome you into the 25-26 academic year. And what a year it will be! This year, we will be hosting a wide range of opportunities for our students that I will encourage everyone to get involved in. Alongside the expert content you will work through in your programme, we will be supporting you to engage in study abroad trips, industry site visits and finance competitions.

We will be working with teams from across the university to make sure that you have the best possible experience during the next 12 months. Our goal for you is to complete the year feeling more confident about your subject knowledge, more certain about your next steps and full of ambition to achieve those goals. And we know that the work we do to build this experience will achieve this. Our NSS scores last year revealed that 88.5% of our students are happy with our courses, putting our department 3.4% higher than the sector average of 85.1%. We are absolutely committed to ensuring that you feel the same during your time with us.

Throughout the year we will be opening opportunities for feedback from you, and we would love for you to engage with that as much as possible. It really helps us to ensure that what we plan fits with your needs, and to understand where you think the mismatches might be. So, my call to you today will be to get involved, work with us on building our F&E community and always feel comfortable reaching out to us with your feedback. The department of Finance and Economics is your home for the next year. And we cannot wait to spend that time with you!

Looking forward to seeing you across the first semester.

Anna Egan
