This year might feel a little different as a student who is repeating without attendance, but it is important to recognise that whilst you are not attending classes, you are still part of the university, department and community and your progression and success is a priority.

FAQs
Why am I repeating without attendance?
You will have received one of the following board outcomes on results day:
referred, first reassessment next academic year without attendance (REFWO) – which means you will be able to enrol for 25/26 to have a final capped resit for your failed module(s) in the next academic year. You are not required to attend classes and will be able to continue to the next level in the 26/27 academic year, so long as you have passed your resits.
deferred, first reassessment next academic year without attendance (DEFWO) – which means you will be able to enrol for 25/26 to have uncapped resits in any modules in which you have been granted deferred assessment. You are not required to attend classes and will be able to continue to the next level in the 26/27 academic year, so long as you have passed your resits.
What support can I access?
You have access to a wide range of support and advice both within the department and the wider university. This includes:
• Moodle – this will provide the academic materials and information you need to progress with the module(s) you are repeating.
• Your Module Leader – you can email your module leader for their availability and to make an appointment.

When will be reassessment take place?
We have two key assessment periods which take place in January and May but there may be other deadlines throughout the year, depending on the type of assessment. Please ensure you check the Moodle area for each module and make note of the assessment and deadline. You will be notified when exam timetables are available prior to each assessment period.

- Be your key contact throughout the year. I can signpost you to module specific support, as well as specialist support for academic study skills, wellbeing, and evidenced extensions.

Top Tips and Advice
- Be aware of your previous marks and what you are re-sitting/re-submitting. It is your responsibility to ensure you know the hand-in and examination dates.
- Reflect on your previous year(s), using the feedback you have gained to identify specific areas for improvement.
- Set yourself goals for the year and think about how you can work towards achieving them week by week.
- Engage in Study Skills Support – We have a wide range of Study Skills Workshops which focus on Exam Tips, Revision Skills, and Essay Writing. You can find more information, book onto workshops and arrange 1-1 support using the following link mmu.ac.uk/student life/course/study-skills
- Use and check Moodle regularly. There is a wealth of information and materials relating to the module/assessment you are repeating. Ensure you are studying up-to-date, correct materials.
- Check your student email regularly for updates regarding materials, exams and student support and extra-curricular opportunities.
- Contact your lecturers if you have questions throughout the year. Do not wait until the assessment period.
- Time Management – it is essential that you are self-disciplined whilst studying without attendance. Have a plan each week and dedicate time to each module. If you are undertaking paid work at the same time, or have other responsibilities, ensure that your studies are still a priority and that you have enough time for both.
- Remember, you still have access to the library, and we would encourage you to use it. This will help you stay engaged with the University and aid your transition back to studying with attendance.
- Use your Personal Tutor to discuss any issues or concerns you have throughout your studies. They are there to support your development throughout the year and can signpost you to any further support you might need.
