As graduation this year at Mcr Met runs from Monday 14th of July until the 25th of July.

Here are some key points/ advice regarding the day:

1. Plan Your Outfit in Advance

  • Keep it comfortable – You’ll be walking, standing, and sitting a lot.
  • Think about footwear – Choose shoes you can confidently walk in.
  • Consider the weather – Layers are your friend if it’s chilly; lightweight fabrics are ideal if it’s warm. I mean it is in Manchester after all….

2. Arrive Early

Give yourself plenty of time to:

  • Collect your gown and cap
  • Find your seat
  • Take pre-ceremony photos

3. Secure Your Cap & Gown

Graduation caps are notorious for slipping or flying off at the wrong moment.

  • Use bobby pins/hair grips/ safety pins may be helpful to keep your cap in place.
  • Make sure your gown is properly fastened and secure.

4. Capture the Moment

Graduation photos are keepsakes you’ll treasure forever.

  • Take plenty of pictures with family and friends.
  • Ask someone to snap candid shots – sometimes those are the best ones.

5. Bring the Essentials

Pack a small bag with:

  • ID and graduation confirmation
  • Tissues (for happy tears!)
  • Phone charger or power bank

6. Eat Before the Ceremony

Ceremonies can be long. Grab a good meal beforehand and stay hydrated.

7. Reflect & Say Thank You

Take a moment to reflect on your journey. Graduation isn’t just about the ceremony – it’s about the effort, resilience, and growth that got you there.

  • Say thank you to the people who supported you – whether it’s lecturers, friends, or family.

8. Stay Connected

Graduation isn’t goodbye! Stay in touch with course mates and join alumni networks.
