Barclays’ Radbroke Campus, located in Knutsford, Cheshire, is Barclays Bank’s largest technology centre in the UK. The campus is set in over 60 acres of beautiful countryside and is centred around Radbroke Hall, a Grade II listed property acquired by Barclays.
Radbroke is not only known for its beautiful landscape but also for being a hub for technological innovation, housing the Technology Command Centre and the Cyber Fraud Fusion Centre. These facilities play a crucial role in enhancing customer experience and ensuring the security of banking services.
Students had the opportunity to visit Radbroke Campus and on the day completed a full tour of the Radbroke Campus, a one-of-a-kind state-of-the-art centre. After, they participated in a panel session on Tech Trends and transitioning into work. The final task of the day had been a networking event in which students were able to meet many different employees at Barclays and ask them plenty of questions to find out about their experience, skills, and roles within the bank.
One of MMU lecturers in Banking and Finance, Melanie McHale, who attended the trip with students stated:
“This trip was very useful for all Banking, Accounting and Finance students. It allowed them to get a real insight into a world-famous bank like Barclays and it helped to raise aspirations and allow students to plan their next steps after they graduate. Overall, it was a great day for all involved and we want to thank Barclays for the opportunity.”
Overall, visiting institutions like Barclays provides students with invaluable exposure to the real-world applications of their studies. It helps them understand the dynamics of the banking industry, witness cutting-edge technology in action, and gain insights from experienced professionals. Here at MMU we aim to provide such insight to students to inspire and broaden their knowledge, allowing them to apply theory from the lectures into the real world of work.
