Recently, students from two departments including Finance and Economics and then Marketing, International Business, and Tourism embarked on an enriching trip to York. This trip was planned to offer a blend of educational and recreational experiences, ensuring that students gained valuable insights while enjoying their time in this famous historic city.

The trip featured a comprehensive walking tour guided by a knowledgeable local historian. This tour provided fascinating insights into York’s rich history, allowing students to view and learn about some of the city’s most iconic historical sights. The guide’s engaging storytelling brought the past to life, making the experience both informative and enjoyable.

Among the key landmarks visited were The Shambles, a picturesque medieval street known for its charming shops and narrow cobbled lanes; the ancient city walls, which offer stunning views and a glimpse into York’s defensive past; and the magnificent York Minster, one of the largest and most beautiful cathedrals in England and Europe.

Students enthusiastically participated in the tour, capturing the moments through photographs and videos, with some even vlogging their experiences to share with friends and family. The trip not only provided educational value but also fostered social interaction, as students formed new friendships while exploring the city in groups.

The opportunity to visit York allowed students to venture into parts of the country they might not have had the chance to see otherwise and they also gained 30 RISE credits along with two RISE badges including wellbeing and internationalisation.

Overall, the trip to York was a resounding success, leaving students with lasting memories and a wealth of knowledge about this historic city.
