Prince Turahirwa, Daniel Bankole, and Adam Fakinle, our second-year Accounting and Finance students, recently took part in a community outreach event, visiting a local high school to share their knowledge and experiences with students.

Prince, a proud alumnus of Trinity High School, had stayed in touch with some of his former teachers over the years. As a result, he received an invitation to attend the school’s career fair, where he was asked to speak about his journey through education and his chosen career path. Eager to offer a broader perspective, Prince invited his classmates Daniel and Adam to join him, knowing that their diverse experiences would provide valuable insights to the students.

In preparation for the event, the trio worked hard to ensure they could make a lasting impact. They designed and printed over 300 informative leaflets, which highlighted the key aspects of studying Accounting and Finance, as well as the potential career opportunities in the field.

Their stall proved to be incredibly popular, attracting many students throughout the day. Prince, Daniel, and Adam engaged in both group discussions and one-on-one conversations, offering practical advice and guidance on the importance of financial education. They spoke about how understanding finance is crucial for future success, especially when it comes to budgeting and making informed financial decisions. Through these interactions, the students not only felt more connected to the subject but also began to see how it could relate to their own futures. The trio emphasised that financial literacy was something everyone could benefit from, no matter their background.

Building on the success of the career fair, Prince, Adam, and Daniel have expressed a strong desire to continue sharing their knowledge with other schools. They highlighted the importance of financial literacy, particularly for young people who may not have access to such information at home. They discussed how learning the basics of managing money, saving, and even purchasing a home could have a huge impact on students’ lives and futures.

In addition to their career fair appearance, the trio also mentioned their ongoing collaboration with other businesses and local schools for future financial literacy events aimed at further supporting more students. This upcoming event is part of their wider mission to reach as many schools as possible and share essential financial knowledge with a diverse range of students.

Their passion for educating others and giving back to their community continues to drive their efforts, and they are excited about the potential to make a positive impact on the financial well-being of young people.
